Well, I'll have to try learning Arabic. I had wonderful hosts in Damascus , and I even managed to play soccer: In general I was enchanted by Syria (except the border fees you need to pay at the exit again, 500 local "pounds" (10USD). But I have my glasses for  2 USD and flip flops for 1 USD, it pays off to trade here. The impression after my stay in Syria -so far is that it's the easiest country to catch a lift, enormous hospitality, and somehow I did not see the dangers of which -apparently- the press informs.
. Today I was directed to the Polish Embassy (even though I asked for the "city center" and "tourist information office"). The guy at the embassy was great, I learned a lot. Tomorrow I will try to go to Israel , Jordan , and then come back to Jordan for sightseeing.
