It's half a year journey already. I thought I'd already be in Australia and I'm only in Transcaucasia. Australia is far away ... I thought about that after Armenia to go through Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan and China eventually, but a visit in the Russian embassy effectively discouraged me to do so(am I not to easily discouraged?;). After a long break I'm sleeping in a hostel again in Yerevan. Caucasus region is very interesting from a historical and political point of view. Interesting, that this is the country which was the first country adopted Christianity as state religion. Armenia has also it's own alphabet. Why is it politically interesting? Besides the massacre of Armenians heritage during World War I, which the Turks still deny, there are severe conflicts like with Azerbaijan over the Karabakh region (historically and ethnically Armenian, but in the soviet times granted to Azerbaijan). Karabakh is under Armenian control (officially a republic, but nobody recognised by none), and despite Azerbaijan is much richer than Armenia thanks to oil, Armenians won all the wars between these countries. Now borders of Armenia are also defended by Russian troops (borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are closed), and often the Russian capital rules here, so practically the country also partially got rid of it's sovereignty.
